Preselling is where you set up anticipation of your products and business.
1 Give information. People may not be interested in buying your products straight away but they will be interested in gaining useful information. In internet marketing, visitors don’t just want to have useful products, they want to understand how things work and how they can make money, or, even better, build their own online business.
You can provide articles, reports, ebooks, blog posts, information on social media sites and so on. There are plenty of ways of making your information available.
2 Anticipation. While you’re giving information, you can mention or recommend certain products which will be of use to your readers. Put links into the body of your writing as a normal part of the text. You’ll see good examples of this on blogs. As the person reads over the text he comes to a link which will give extra information. It’s a natural reaction to click on it. This could go to any type of site, including a sales page. Mentioning such sites builds anticipation for that product if it looks like it’ll help the reader or solve a problem.
3 Give away samples. This is a well-known off-line tactic but works just as well online. You presell by giving away part of the product. This could be a chapter of an ebook or limited access to a service site or membership site. It helps to sell the product by experiencing for themselves before they’ve actually got the whole product. However, it’s still best to build trust and credibility first before you mention products, samples or not.
