Exactly How Do You Get Your Mind “Set”?

I wrote here about the importance of mindset and thought I would add more information on the subject as I see it.

Mostly, I don’t agree there are any “secrets” or a “secret”.

There is no need for a mystical view about improving your life. Nor that it’s necessary to think of the supernatural. Rather, everything is nature. We’re in it.

What’s vitally important is your brain. It runs everything in the whole world of humankind.

In that brain – which is basically the same in everybody – is you.

However, there are two basic you’s.

There’s your conscious you – which is self conscious, where you do your conscious thinking, and where you are aware of yourself and the world around you.

But there’s another you – the unconscious you. This you runs your body, your dreams at night, your intuitions and feelings. Ever felt a rising up of powerful feelings and you’re not sure why, and you maybe had to consciously control them? Also, intuitions are thoughts at the speed of light – not heavy-footed like conscious thinking.

But your unconscious you will quite happily run on in its usual way. It has no purpose or direction.

Consciousness is all purpose and direction.

To achieve something you need both. However, your conscious you must take charge. If you wait for a flash of inspiration from the unconscious you’ll wait for ever. It just isn’t bothered. It has to be told to bother.

When it is told in no uncertain terms, it will come up with plenty of ideas and be on the lookout for related situations, people, etc. It will be alert for what it’s been told it needs to do.

The unconscious is far more powerful than the conscious you. But the conscious needs to lead the unconscious, like a light beam in the dark. And they need to work together.

In other words, it isn’t magic. It’s natural – it’s built into our biology. But like any tool, it has to be used, and used in the correct way.

This is partly what I meant by focus. Focus is the most important element in having  your mind “set” like a compass.

You have everything you need between your ears :)

I’ve Been Furiously Backlinking…

…for a couple of days.

I’ve uploaded my first article as a PDF to a document sharing site. I bought some site URLs you can backlink to.

Trying to find such sites is a laborious process – even if you know exactly what to do.

Backlinking is where you get a link back to your site or whatever from another site. The idea is that the site that links to you should be a high Page Ranked site. Google(TM) ranks sites from 0 to 10, 10 being the highest. At least, this is what is usually said. So it seems everybody tries to get as high Page Rank sites as possible linking them.

But I’ve discovered this isn’t necessarily the best policy. Google does rate sites with lots of good quality links as better sites and so they get higher placement in the search results. However, there’s 2 things I’ll mention.

One is that Google prefers to see a natural growth of links (and far better if they are one-way links. That is, you are not linking back to the site that links to you). I take natural as being more haphazard: some days you get no links at all. Other days you get 10. And so on. If  it spots a site getting 5 links a day regularly for a month, it will probably not favour them at all, no matter how good the links or how many.

The other is that you don’t necessarily need masses of high Page Ranked sites linking to you. Of course, you may get lots over time. Rather, it looks like Google prefers to see (over the long term) the growth of  lots of low level links, even from zero ranked sites, since this is more likely to be natural. Then, to getting middling important sites, and then some high ranked ones. That is, if someone gets 100 very high ranked sites linking to them in a short space of time, it will look suspicious to Google and may move against that site.

Why are backlinks important? Because Google sees a site with quality links and lots of links grown naturally over time (a site’s age is important too) as an authority site. So it will favour that site in search results related to the site’s keywords.

Busy…Still Writing Ezine Freebies

Besides sorting out a second product, I’ve been more focused on getting free reports written as giveaways in GoldVaultZine. I’m planning on giving away original products once every 2 weeks.

It might be of use to you to know how I go about this.

Obviously you do have to allow enough time for this, especially in my position. But once you get into a routine of doing it, you can fit into your week.

Here are the steps. Of course, sometimes I vary them.

1 Choose topic to write on – might get ideas of people’s needs from forums, emails or wherever.

2 See if I can find any useful Private Label Rights, with the emphasis on useful – and relevant.

3 See what materials of any kind that’s relevant on my hard drive.

4 This should really come first: what do I already know!

5 Draft a plan of sections and headings, just in note form.

6 I write in Notepad first

7 Transfer Notepad finished stuff to Open Office – get this from OpenOffice.org – it’s free!

8 Layout in Open office – not bothering with images or graphics to keep it simple.

9 Rewrite to some extent as I lay it out with colours, bold, underline etc. – giving them all the same look and layout.

10 You can change this file to PDF in Open office by clicking on File and Export As PDF. This works perfectly well!

11 It’ll be saved in the same place as your OpenOffice Word-type version if you want to, when you’ve browsed and saved. But you can create a sub-folder just for the PDF and into which you’ll put the Read Me Notepad. You can then zip them, ready for upload, in that sub-folder.

12 In Notepad, write a Read Me set of advice and instructions. I’m giving both giveaway and Master Resell Rights to the report. I’m planning to set up a rebranding site so people can put their own affiliate links in. I might also sell the Private Label Rights at a later date. Pehaps a choice between the two. These are original reports written only by me.

13 I put this Notepad Read Me in a separate folder together with the PDF. I zip the folder. I use JustZipIt and I’ve had no problems with it.

14 I then go to my host’s cPanel, and set up a new sub-folder under power-trust.com.

15 using cPanel’s Upload button, I upload the zip file from my computer. Again, never had a problem.

16 I then set up the details in my Delavo(TM) management system – you can get this as part of Tutbomembership at www.power-trust.com/presents/tm or you can get a free version and put it on your own server, which I have. This protects my download from fly-by access and also expires the link so it can’t be passed around. People who join my list or get a report also join the Members part of the system.

17 Lastly, the autoresponder message, which all my list members get, is set with the link to download.

18 If you’re not using a management system you can simply send them straight to the download, but then, as said, your download and the link are not protected. You can buy software such as DLGuard, which I’ve never used, but it’s limited in what it can do. Also, you can protect the file/folder: see a button on cPanel – I’ve never used it so you’ll have to test.

Yes, it does take some time but there are several advantages:

I’m giving valuable information my list can use

They can use the report to giveaway to their opt-ins

They can sell it if they want (not best option)

I will set up a rebranding service ( I might charge for) – more value to list since they can make money from the internal links. If I charge, then they can make affiliate money.

I might make money from selling PLR to the reports

These are original, so they won’t be found anywhere else.

I hope this has helped – and given you some ideas.

What is “mindset”?

Mindset is hardly ever talked about.

When it is, it usually drifts into ideas about the “Secret”, wish-fulfillment, and even the supernatural, with a smattering of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP).

Aren’t these various ways of trying to get to the right “mindset” – especially success “mindset” – at root about getting inspired about something?

Some people would say it’s about having “belief”. But can anyone simply take on or off belief as they please – like deciding what they’ll have for dinner? I think not.

Anyway, there seem to be different ways of finding inspiration.

Here are 3 examples.

Which one are you, if any?

230 followers in just over 48 hours – I thank you all!

More importantly, I’ve also been listed by 2 Tweeters.  So, thank you to EgyptSassoon and Wayne Mansfield.

I intend to provide you with valuable content through GoldVaultZine especially. Anyone can contact me through the contact form on this blog.

I’ll only occasionally update the Twitter numbers – I’m sure if you’re interested in what’s happening you’ll want actual numbers if possible – I know I always do!

Thanks again.

Big Mistake!

This is my first post and it’s about a mistake! LOL

If you see my page on Warts And All – Why I’m Writing This Blog you’ll see I joined Twittollower the day before I wrote this post.

So, for about 24 hours it’s been working great!

However, simply joining caused me (and still is) quite a serious problem. It’s all my own fault!

What is this problem? Two things:

1 Not listening/reading carefully enough on the site

2 And this is the big one: not being prepared enough before taking the next step!

You see, when you join Twittollower, you create a new account in Twitter first, then you formally join (after paying) Twittollower. In my eagerness, what I didn’t realise was their system starts immediately getting you followers. I thought I would start it off when ready – I jumped in quickly because the first 200 paid the minimum subscription.

And it wasn’t until I checked the email account I’d used that I saw what was happening. I had 150 followers from a standing start!

The trouble was, if they clicked through to this blog or joined GoldVaultZine (as you can see with your own eyes on the day I posted this!) they hadn’t been set up ready to go!

In one sense I was prepared – I’d created materials, thought most things through, mindmapped and so on. But I wasn’t at the point to receive traffic. This could be a disastrous start, especially on Twitter – there’s nothing to see! It’s a waste of time!

I’d been led to an unprepared situation by my lack of attention.

Now, you might say – well ok, but what’s the big panic, you may as well chill out – after all I’ve started now haven’t I? Yes, but not on my terms, which is important for how the business will run and develop.

Really, being prepared is a big and fundamental issue!

Imagine, if you suddenly have a rush of thousands of visitors could you, your business and your system cope?

This is why this is irritating because I knew about this and was getting fully prepared, in fact, almost there. And it could have been a massive mistake.

You, your business and your system must be prepared to deal with mass situations – after all, isn’t that the sort of traffic, subscribers, customers we all want?
