Giveaways For Listbuilding

Here’s how it works.

1 A giveaway event is where someone, together with others usually, sets up a site which gives away products. Those products are provided by themselves as well as others. Those others are marketers who set up their own squeeze and/or download page for their own product in the giveaway.

When a visitor chooses their product, they’re taken to that product’s download page. But before they download it they have to give their email address. In this way marketers who have donated products to the giveaway build their own lists.

2 Each person who has joined the giveaway to build their list, promotes the giveaway to their own list. Say, twenty people donate gifts, including the initiators of it, and they all have one thousand on their list. That’s twenty thousand people that the event is being promoted to. Of course, many marketers will have much bigger lists than one thousand. You can see how lists can be built very fast.

3 Organise your own. It’s much better if you initiate the giveaway and get others to join in. You’re at the top of the situation then and get most benefit. That’s because marketers usually pay the owner of the giveaway to join. Also, everyone who wants to download a gift has to give their email address to the owner, which is usually for updates.

4 One drawback. The people you get on your list may not be the best subscribers. They were after free products. They weren’t looking to buy. It’s best to have buyers on your list, even if it’s smaller, because those are the ones who are going to buy your products. The others may simply be along for the ride or only want more free gifts.

Squeeze Page – 4 Success Tips

A squeeze page is used for collecting visitor’s email addresses in exchange for a free gift. If you drive your traffic there you are able to build your list and so make offers to subscribers over and over again. But you need to make sure your squeeze page has certain elements in order to get people to sign up.

1 Free gift. This should not be any old Private Label Product you’ve found and thought would do the job. It won’t. This gift will be the first product, hopefully of many, they get from you. So you want to make a good first impression and have it as an indication of the excellent products they’ll be able to get from you.

Not only that. They’re signing up for your ezine. If the gift is poor, this might put a shadow of poor expectation over your ezine content. The gift is in fact the introduction to your whole business which should follow through from it.

2 Be professional. Although you’re not selling anything in the usual sense on the squeeze page, you are selling the gift and ezine. So treat the page as a sales page where you have to persuade them to sign up and then urge them to do so. Persuade with your list of benefits. Urge them when you get to the form, before and after it. You will have seen pages where graphics are used too, to make the sign up action obvious.

3 No links. There should be nothing to distract them from getting to the action of the sign up. You will need a disclaimer link, or have it at the bottom of the page. But that’s all.

4 Emphasise benefits. Put the stress on the benefits they’ll get from your free gift. Have the bullet pointed benefits but also mention them, or the main one, before and after, too.

Free Reports – Build Your List

Free reports written by you can be used, not only to advertise your products with links, but to build your list. You give the free report away in exchange for the visitor’s email address. If it’s your report then it’s unique to you.

1 Unique or original. The visitors can be told it’s unique or original to yourself, so they won’t find it anywhere else(but see below). You could make it exclusive to people  who sign up. People like exclusivity and will be curious as to what makes it different. That is, your style, tone and ideas.

2 Short. You can tell them it’s a report, not an ebook. It’s short enough to read quickly even though it’s got valuable information in it. Make it anywhere from five to twenty-five pages long. If they don’t like it, though you tell them they will, they won’t have spent much time reading it.

3 Presell. Use it as a preselling tool to tell them about or recommend your other products. Once they’re on your list you want to keep them. So not only does the report need to be of good quality, you then need to be able to lead them to the rest of your business.

4 Go viral. Now, instead of leaving it to their own use, you can give them rights to pass on the report to build their own list or whatever. That’s an advantage in itself because you’ve given them a product, albeit a free one. But you can also give resell rights if you want.

The idea is that the more it’s passed around, the more your links will be seen and maybe clicked. In addition, you could allow them to rebrand the report with some of their links. You’d have to have a branding system to let them do this. If you do this, of course, you can’t say they won’t find it anywhere else.

Ezine Content – Where To Get It

Everybody wants content these days and not just any old content. If you’ve got an ezine you need to keep producing it from somewhere.

1 Yourself. You are your own best writer for your own ezine. It should have your style and tone, individual to you. Keep notes on ideas for articles, read other ezines and blogs, as well as ebooks and offline books. It is your ezine so the heart of it should be your ideas.

2 Interview. A common tactic is to interview another marketer and either write it out yourself in normal prose or set it out as an interview with the actual words spoken or written. In fact, you haven’t got to speak to anybody for this. You could email four or five questions to someone, with their permission gained first. They send their responses back.

These can sometimes be a bit lacklustre and superficial. It’s probably best to try and get someone well known or in the internet news.

3 PLR. Private Label Rights material could be used, especially if rewritten by you. Of course, you probably will never own the copyright to it. Plus, it’s difficult to find good enough material to actually place in front of your loyal subscribers.

4 Public domain. If you’re willing to search around, you might find some public domain texts usable if broken up into articles. This can take some time. While you’re doing that, almost as a fishing trip, you could be writing your own stuff instead.

Product Or List – Which Is Preferable?

Most people start internet marketing by being desperate to create a product, or at least have a product to sell. Why? Because their main view is that they’ve committed to internet marketing to make money. You make money, they think, by selling a product.

There’s also usually a vague feeling about setting up their own business, so it’s best to have their own product. Or start an affiliate marketing business which is where even more people make the mistake of not getting the visitor’s email address.

This is a mistake as a first principle.

You need a list first. Imagine you create that first product, put it on your website and even get some traffic to it. You even make some sales. But what happens to that customer of yours? They take the product and you never see them again.

That means that you have to keep generating potential customers for every sale. Suppose you sell one product for every 100 visitors. To sell ten products you’d have to generate one thousand unique visitors. In fact, you’d be forever driving traffic.

Imagine the other scenario. You set up a squeeze page with a valuable free gift. You drive the same traffic to that. Say you still only get ten sign ups from your one thousand visitors. But those sign ups are on your list, they haven’t disappeared. So you can sell to them repeatedly. By this, the list is much more preferable and it only takes the same amount of work to get the traffic.
