February 4th, 2010 — Progress Updates
Besides sorting out a second product, I’ve been more focused on getting free reports written as giveaways in GoldVaultZine. I’m planning on giving away original products once every 2 weeks.
It might be of use to you to know how I go about this.
Obviously you do have to allow enough time for this, especially in my position. But once you get into a routine of doing it, you can fit into your week.
Here are the steps. Of course, sometimes I vary them.
1 Choose topic to write on – might get ideas of people’s needs from forums, emails or wherever.
2 See if I can find any useful Private Label Rights, with the emphasis on useful – and relevant.
3 See what materials of any kind that’s relevant on my hard drive.
4 This should really come first: what do I already know!
5 Draft a plan of sections and headings, just in note form.
6 I write in Notepad first
7 Transfer Notepad finished stuff to Open Office – get this from OpenOffice.org – it’s free!
8 Layout in Open office – not bothering with images or graphics to keep it simple.
9 Rewrite to some extent as I lay it out with colours, bold, underline etc. – giving them all the same look and layout.
10 You can change this file to PDF in Open office by clicking on File and Export As PDF. This works perfectly well!
11 It’ll be saved in the same place as your OpenOffice Word-type version if you want to, when you’ve browsed and saved. But you can create a sub-folder just for the PDF and into which you’ll put the Read Me Notepad. You can then zip them, ready for upload, in that sub-folder.
12 In Notepad, write a Read Me set of advice and instructions. I’m giving both giveaway and Master Resell Rights to the report. I’m planning to set up a rebranding site so people can put their own affiliate links in. I might also sell the Private Label Rights at a later date. Pehaps a choice between the two. These are original reports written only by me.
13 I put this Notepad Read Me in a separate folder together with the PDF. I zip the folder. I use JustZipIt and I’ve had no problems with it.
14 I then go to my host’s cPanel, and set up a new sub-folder under power-trust.com.
15 using cPanel’s Upload button, I upload the zip file from my computer. Again, never had a problem.
16 I then set up the details in my Delavo(TM) management system – you can get this as part of Tutbomembership at www.power-trust.com/presents/tm or you can get a free version and put it on your own server, which I have. This protects my download from fly-by access and also expires the link so it can’t be passed around. People who join my list or get a report also join the Members part of the system.
17 Lastly, the autoresponder message, which all my list members get, is set with the link to download.
18 If you’re not using a management system you can simply send them straight to the download, but then, as said, your download and the link are not protected. You can buy software such as DLGuard, which I’ve never used, but it’s limited in what it can do. Also, you can protect the file/folder: see a button on cPanel – I’ve never used it so you’ll have to test.
Yes, it does take some time but there are several advantages:
I’m giving valuable information my list can use
They can use the report to giveaway to their opt-ins
They can sell it if they want (not best option)
I will set up a rebranding service ( I might charge for) – more value to list since they can make money from the internal links. If I charge, then they can make affiliate money.
I might make money from selling PLR to the reports
These are original, so they won’t be found anywhere else.
I hope this has helped – and given you some ideas.

February 2nd, 2010 — Internet Marketing
I’m sorry…but you have to be joking if you think internet marketing (however you think of it) is an easy way to make money. If you do think this, you’ve probabl been reading, or looking at, three basic kinds of website and offers that can mislead you. These are:
get-rich-quick sites
sitting on the beach sites
Last month I was in debt…sites
Get-rich-quick sites and offers can get you into an excited and dreamy state of mind. They always used to have pictures of cars (usually red Ferraris), mansions and, often, palm trees or some desperately attractive scene. And once they’ve got your imagination going and your hopes, which is really key, they make an offer which promises to make it all real. In effect, what they’re doing is claiming they can make your dreams come true. Well, who wouldn’t want a Ferrari and a mansion?
The trouble is, which they fail to mention, that nobody can make somebody else’s dream a reality. Only you can make your dream a reality. Anyway, everybody’s dream is different, even if it has similar contents. So, they pick the most common and most glamorous parts that everybody can identify with.
Usually, it’s pure, or almost pure, hype.
You’ll find less of this now but they’re still around. As you get more accustomed to sales sites you come to see such sites as a bit “scammy”. (However, there are one or two sites a bit like the description which are very good ones.)
Now, you might think “sitting on the beach sites” would be just the same. Similar scenery perhaps – although some have used more realistic beach setttings.
However, the big push here is about how the internet is an easy way to make money. In fact, it’s so easy you can spend most of your time sitting on the beach, after doing an hour or two’s work (after you’ve had a lie in – no more alarms for you!). Or you could even spend all your time there, including “working” on your laptop, while the money pours in.
You’ve heard the saying, “If it sounds too good to be true…” The basic problem is you’re going to have to spend many hours a day working on your computer to earn a decent living. You can’t do it while you’re half-asleep. Of course, if you do make more money, then you can have more holidays etc. But you still need to be on top of your business – even though you can automate a lot.
Finally, the “last month I was in debt, slept in a car, was homeless, etc” can tell true experiences, and can be both heart-shattering and inspiring. It’s to make you think, “Well if he (usually a he) can come back from that illness, experience, distaster…then nothing could stop me”. It’s great to feel that, but think about HOW that person managed it. Where did he get the computer from? How much money did he have, from where? Who helped him?
Here’s a “secret”, so whisper it and keep quiet about it. Very often, people who make it look as if the internet is an easy way to make money have had mentors or coaches. And not just any mentors (notice the plural) but top ones. And they have or are paying thousands of dollars (perhaps a month) for this help.
Then, they have worked very hard to set things up and get their business going and growing.
So, being on the web is not an easy way to make money in a lazy sense but being organised, spending some money (not necessarily thousands or even hundreds) and gaining knowledge and experience, can make it appear as if it’s easy.
